**About the Role**

As a Localization Experience and Quality Program Manager in EMEA region. You have an opportunity to develop and drive AI / ML initiatives within the Localization / Globalization org, working cross-functionally with teams to ensure that our AI driven translations and data meet our quality standards.

You’ll work closely with our Product, Brand, Marketing, Regional and Operation teams to stay ahead of localizing content for product launches, marketing initiatives, and support releases. You’ll be the main point of contact to manage the work completed by external vendors or freelancers, ensuring that they have the tools and coaching needed to deliver high-quality data for AI, and content. You understand the importance of scaling your efforts to meet the needs of the growing business. On top of it all, you will be owning exciting quality programs that are language-agnostic, to support our team’s Mission to enable magical, localized user experiences.

**What You’ll Do**

- Own and manage linguistic quality of our products and content from English into languages for various EMEA countries.
- Own language-agnostic quality programs that drive the highest quality output by our vendors.
- Work with vendor resources to deliver localized content, handling high priority and high visibility content yourself.
- Dedicate time to investigating localization issues found on our apps & website
- Use data to determine quality trends for your region’s languages and create action plans to address any systemic issues.
- Flag internationalization issues to the relevant product teams and guide vendors to fix linguistic bugs.
- Proactively lead internal and cross-functional initiatives to identify areas for Quality process improvements.
- Evangelize localization services with key stakeholders in regions and in HQ.
- Continually update Style Guides and Glossaries for the languages.
- Liaise between Uber product teams and Localization Program Management to recommend best practices for internationally-friendly product design.
- Develop, own and maintain relationships with regional stakeholders
- Review and influence product requirement documents (PRDs/RFCs) related to Tools and Systems that can improve globalization across Uber.
- Work closely with PMs/Engineers on product roll-outs, tool improvements/automation, and tech planning

**What You’ll Need**

- B.A. in Translation, Linguistics, or similar field of study.
- 3-5 years of localization experience, preferably in the tech industry.
- Experience using CAT tools (e.g. Smartling, WorldServer, Trados, Memsource, etc.).
- Experience managing Translation Memories, Glossaries, and Style Guides.
- Experience working with vendors to drive quality related performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent Project / Program Management skills 8. Passionate about Uber and our mission 9. Ability to manage operations at scale.
- Excellent team player who is able and willing to successfully collaborate across different timezones and regions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Highly data and metrics driven – as a problem solver, you always look out for the best ways to measure impact tangibly and to iterate on solutions based on data.
- Strong analytical and problem solving experience, coupled with excellent business judgment.
- Ask questions that clarify priorities and push the team to be highly effective.
- Excellent in identifying process gaps, measuring progress, and balancing engineering and product efficiency with process overhead.
- Strong organizational skills to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items.
- Understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary.
- Experience managing large and complex projects in a matrixed environment, working with technical stakeholders (including product management, data science, engineering, AI/ML practitioners, etc.)
- Be proficient in and manage technical processes (e.g. Share internationalization i18n best practices, advise Product/Engineers on best practices for l10n QA/testing, run and manage linguistic QA processes)

**Bonus Points If**

- Professional fluency in a language other than English highly preferred.
- Master’s Degree in related field
- Experience with Data Analytics and understanding of Statistics
- Understanding of and proficient in SQL, Python, Excel
- Understanding of AI/ML/ DS concepts and applications, especially in the language services industry and quality management domain
