WHS Officer, On the road (OTR) safety
Job Description
We’re looking for a talented OTR Safety WHS officer to join our team. You’ll be passionate about partnering with the business to ensure WHS risks are managed. This is a brand-new role and we will expect you to continue to drive our Amazon WHS culture with the site leaders, and be instrumental in embedding Amazon WHS policies and processes and ensure compliance to all applicable local legislative obligations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful OTR Safety WHS officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
The OTR Safety WHS officer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the occupational health and safety landscape. You will possess excellent safety program knowledge and be able demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.
Key OTR Safety WHS officer Responsibilities:
• Responsible for providing WHS support to AMZL-Trans sites and On the Road teams within Saudi Arabia region to execute company policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations.
• Perform frequent vehicle safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at delivery station and On the Road.
• Audit record-keeping practices and Global Safety Database (Austin) entries to be aligned with global safety standards and local regulations.
• Ensure AMZL-Trans sites and On the Road teams are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required training.
• Act as the WHS POC for WW Safety team & GRS and support in safety improvement projects.
• Proactively engaging in collaborative health and safety projects across the site.
• Completion of risk assessments related to WHS OTR processes.
• Providing advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within designated area of responsibility.
• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHS Policies and Global Standards. Develop local site WHS procedures and processes to meet Amazon Global Standards
• Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the WHS risk is highest.
• Guide site team in implementation of road safety procedure and act as OTR SME for any site queries
• Liaise with partners on OTR incident reporting and tracking
• Periodically review the OTR incidents reported on quality reporting, corrective actions and closure. Provide gap assessment to site team
• Lead OTR safety tech implementation and other OTR initiatives as per roadmap
• Ability to travel 50% of time and flexible with working in shifts
Basic Qualifications
Must have:
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or
• Engineering or science bachlor degree + NEBOSH Diploma
• 4+ years experience in OSH field. Good communicator – English
• Valid driving license
• Ability to travel 50% of time and flexible with working in shifts
• Previous road safety experience/driving school
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior road safety experience or in similar domain
• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
• Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
• Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
• Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificates
• Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management
